Summary: Wonder how to get your VLC Media Player to play encrypted Blu-ray discs? Read on to find the solutions we shared below.



In general, you may play Blu-ray movies on a smart TV or computer, which is pretty good to enjoy Blu-ray files. So, how can we play a Blu-ray on Mac if there’s a VLC Media Player installed? Can VLC support Blu-ray playback directly? According some other users and my own experience, it’s not smooth. Well, there are some workarounds for you. Learn in detail.



Solution One:



You’ll need two files: keys database and AACS dynamic library.



Keys database: get the file

Mac OS: put it in ~/.config/aacs/



AACS dynamic library

Mac OS: right-click on VLC, choose “Show package contents” and put that file in Contents/MacOS/lib directory



NOTE!

This is not any official VLC release.

VLC does not yet support Blu-ray menus so you must manually select title to play.

Not all Blu-ray movies are supported.



Solution two:



Since you cannot play Blu-ray movie using VLC, there is a way to make it work, you need rip Blu-ray disc to VLC friendly format such as .mp4, .mkv, .mpeg-2.
