What are the steps to trace back when deadlock happened. I don't have trace setup and would like to know what caused the deadlock in my replication environment.

If it’s a once off your out of luck, if your experiencing it more regularly,
I suggest install these reports to help identify the culprits,
http://www.microsoft.com/en-au/down...x?id=29063
then look at your historical information in the right hand corner.

What do you mean by in your "replication environment?"

Where are you seeing deadlocks? How frequently are they occurring?

Are you writing to your subscribers?

I setup a trace with dead lock graph and chain and also setup startup parameter 1222 and restarted server. Users reports deadlocks and sends us screenshot. But, deadlocks are not capturing in either SQL server error logs or profiler.

Did you start trace with -1 option? Which tells trace all sessions.
