For about two weeks, a job that alerts me to disk space issues on a particular SQL server has been erroring out with SQLState 42000 Error 14607.

I cannot find a clear resolution to this in my research. Any help is appreciated.

The server is at version 10.50.2500, Windows 2003 R2 Standard x64.

Thank you

Is it backup job? Does backup disk have enough free space?

It looks to be associated with the profile used for dbmail not being valid. Have a look at this: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/971402

Gunney,

Thank you for your response. The issue is the profile that this error is being "thrown" for is the login account for SQL Agent and is defined as a sysadmin member. The dbmail profile is also a public profile.

The job is actually a job that reviews the available disk space on the local drives of our SQL servers and emails the DBA team when the available space falls below a specified threshold.

Paul,

I am not sure if you are telling me that was indeed the issue and you now have a handle on it or if you were giving me more details of the issue.

Gunny,

I am giving you more details. The reference that you gave me discusses private profiles. This is an Agent job using a public profile.

Ahh, OK. Well have you narrowed it down to what part is failing? Is it the part that checks for disk space or the emailing part? I suspect due to the error it is the email part but you can test it by replacing the code in the jobstep that is simple and you know wont fail. Then you can at least concentrate on the correct part.

Okay, I have created a job that only performs the email step based on the error messages that I was seeing. The result with that job is the same.

Date 5/9/2012 10:00:00 AM
Log Job History (Test DB Mail)

Step ID 1
Server Server Y
Job Name Test DB Mail
Step Name Step 1
Duration 00:00:00
Sql Severity 16
Sql Message ID 14607
Operator Emailed
Operator Net sent
Operator Paged
Retries Attempted 0

Message
Executed as user: XXXXX\TAgent-XXX. profile name is not valid [SQLSTATE 42000] (Error 14607). The step failed.

Is the profile in public? Can you send test mail with it?
