The client already has a DBA that is more operationally oriented. The DBA we are looking for needs to be development oriented and be ready to work with our developers while they are designing new systems and enhancements, etc. This person should also be familiar with SSIS and DataWarehousing using SQL. This person would design the database tables and ensure proper overall design. They use Erwin so that would be very desirable.
General Description Of Duties:
Under general supervision,
the Database Administrator’s (DBA) role is to design, install, monitor, maintain, and performance tune production databases and data warehouses while ensuring high levels of data availability and security. This individual is also responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing database policies and procedures to ensure the integrity and availability of databases and their accompanying software.
Experience in SQL Server database and/or SQL Server database development
Working experience in SQL Server 2005 & 2008
Hands-On experience with SQL Server 2008 and/or SSRS and SSIS
Working experience in creating DTS packages and creating reports in SQL Server
Competency in Backup & Recovery procedure
Good knowledge in performance Tuning and troubleshooting
Ability to Support databases 24/7
Understand and write moderately complex queries
Create and Manage databases in SQL Server
Experience with SSIS/DTS and SSRS/Reporting Service
Working knowledge with Erwin is very desirable

Assess and develop long-term strategic goals for production databases in conjunction with data owners and department managers.
Work with application development staff to develop database architectures, coding standards, and quality assurance policies and procedures.
Design, implement and support data warehousing and related business intelligence solutions to fully leverage agency information with the goals of increased taxpayer compliance, increased revenues for member cities and improved operating metrics for management purposes.
Implement business rules via stored procedures, middleware, or other technologies.
Work with analysts/developers to assist in the definition of user interfaces/reporting tools associated tools associated with presenting data warehouse information.
Responsible for verifying accuracy of data, and maintaining and supporting the data warehouse.
Design and implement redundant systems, policies, and procedures for disaster recovery and data archiving to ensure effective protection and integrity of data assets.
Conduct research and make recommendations on database products, services, protocols, and standards in support of procurement and development efforts.
Create and maintain logical/physical models for new database development and/or changes to existing ones.
Install and configure relevant network components to ensure database access as well as database consistency and integrity.
Respond to and resolve database access and performance issues.
Monitor system details within the database, including stored procedures and execution time, and implement efficiency improvements.
Monitor, optimize and allocate physical data storage for database systems.
Plan and coordinate data migrations between systems as well as write and support the code for the migrations.
Develop, implement, and maintain change control and testing processes for modifications to databases.
Create, or support creation of, required reports in response to business user needs.
Perform database transaction and security audits.
Establish appropriate end-user database access control levels.
Develop routines for end users to facilitate best practices database use.
Manage and/or provide guidance to junior members of the team.
Writes complex stored procedures and triggers.
Maintains referential integrity of data.
