I had a SQL2000 cluster (active-passive) running and decided to upgrade it to SQL2005. I performed a side-by-side upgrade which basically just installs a second instance of SQL (so now I have a 2000 and a 2005 instance). I then backed up the 2000 instance and restored the backups to the 2005 instance. Easy enough.

The problem now is that I do not need the old 2000 instance. But I cannot uninstall it because there is no SQL2000 catagory on either node of the cluster in the ADD/REMOVE Programs area.

Am I missing something?

How do I uninstall the SQL2000 instance?

Run sql2k setup on active node, there's option to remove node from cluster. Remove passive node then uninstall from active node.
