Hi, I need to create a destination file using a variable. Basically the SSIS process will run nightly and it will create a file with a name and a date stamp on it. An example of the file name would be OutputFile20081212. I have created a string variable that will hold this name, but I need to update that string to hold the name and date, which I do not know how to do. Then I need to use the Data Flow Task to import data into this file, so I need to know how the process will recognize that variable file to import into. Any help would be apprciated.

Thanks, John

If you click on the variable and see its properties you will find the expressions. If you click on it you can construct the expression to generate the dynamic file name. You can use this variable in the downstream tasks.
