Hi,

In sql 2000 if I want to recover master db, I need to put the instance into single user mode.
Is sql 2005 is there any difference in methods ? Or I need to perform the same way just like what I need to do to restore master database in sql 2000 ?

Hope someone can give some advise.

Thanks &
Regards

I use the same method, first put the instance in single user mode.
Then use the studio management to restore the master db.

But I got this error :

Hi,

I run the restore command in "New Query" it worked !

Why doing it in sql server management studio of sql2005, not working ?
for sql2k, to do the restore of master in enterprise management of sql2K is working prefectly.

This seems a step backward from sql2k to sql2005 in this area of restoring master database.
Sorry to make this observation, perhaps I am wrong, anybody got any input in this area ?

Thanks &
Regards
