I am modifying a large number of stored procedures that access pricing information in another, linked SQL Server database.
Rather than hardcoding the references to the other server.database.table(s), which could change, I am thinking that using views to them would create the interface I need while retaining flexibility to make reference changes in a single location (the view) rather than in hundreds of stored procedures.
There are probably other ways to do this so I would like to hear recommendations from anyone with experience developing/maintaining a significant number of stored procedures that utilize queries to linked servers... are there better methods, pros & cons ???
