To find the instances names you can go to administrative tools, servies,
and see servername for example i have
three on my laptop.

Servername\(SQL SERVER you see in services mine is SQL2005)
Servername\SQL2005_2
Servername\SQL2005_3

To make sure it allows remote connections click on SQL SERVER 2005 surface area configuration.
It says configure surface area for localhost (click on this change compute and add teh

Servername\SQL2005
Servername\SQL2005_2 (and enable remote connections) same for the
Servername\SQL2005_3 instance

Hello ,

I have the default port of the default instance as 1433 and the port of the named instance
as 1145 ( I have seen this port in SQL Server configuration manager in protocols for SQL 2005
with TCP Protocol ip adresses - TCP Dynamic ports = 1145).
I open on my Firewall the port 1433 , 1434 , and 1145, and still i can only connect to my default
instance, if i disable the firewall , then i can connect to the default instance and to the named instance(SQL
Server 2005) .
I need to enable my firewall again what is wrong ?
Is the place when i see the SQL Server port ?
Is the Browser service listen on port 1434?

Thanks,
