On a W2000 sql2000 (SP3a) server we got Error 3628: [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]A floating point exception occurred in the user process. Current transaction is canceled.

This occurs during the optimization job, as well in the application (queries)

MS advices to install SP4. We did install SP4, but the problem resists !

I tried several things without succes:
- restoring the db
- truncate the (problem) table (after this the optim run good), refill (import) the table (the problem is back)
- dbcc checkdb (no errors) and dbcc checkallock (no errors)
- install the db on another server

It is a very urgent problem so a QUICK HELP would be very welcome !!!

The error occurs on the sql-server itself when I run the Optimization-job for the database (and also on the app-server in the application).

MDAC was version 2.72.9040.2,
and is upgraded now to 2.81.1117.6 by the installation of sql2000 SP4

We solved the problem.
The problem-table was exported to MS Access. There the corrupted rows/columns were visible and could be identified. We also know what the content of the rows shopuld be. Note: they are not visible in sql (Query Analyser etc) !
After we identified the rows/columns we switched to sql query analyser. With a select statement with a selection for the corrupted rows NO rows are returned, but with the same statement with update to the correct value the systems returns that the correct number rows are updated!
