Hi,

I have the two databases on different servers. In the both databases I have one identical table X. I want to keep the tables in sync ( with a few minutes delay). Insert, Update, Delete in table X on both databases is possible.

server 1 database test table X

server 2 database publ table X

Can I do this with replication and if yes the type of replication?

SQL Server 2000 enterprise edition
Windows 2000 advanced server

Any suggestion would be helpfull.

Best regards

Ronald

Hi,

Thanks for all your help.

I still have one question.

If I try to update the table at the subscriber I am getting the following error:
server: Msg 18456, Level 14, State1, Line 5
Login failed for user 'sa'

Any idea?

Best regards

Are the SA logins exactly the same on both servers? I found this to be helpful when I set up merge replication. Make sure that the user you are using for replication on one server has rights and privelages on the other one.

Immediate Updating subscribers connect the publisher using dynamic RPC, and this is the default. Dynamic RPC defaults to using the sa login with blank password. This behavior can be changed at the Subscriber using sp_link_publication. See "Security for Immediate-updating Subscribers" and "sp_link_publication (T-SQL)" in Books Online for more information

Hi,

Thanks for all your help!

I still have problems:

I installed the server 1 as the publisher and distributor.
a Push subscribtion from server 1 to server 2 works ( select , update etc.)
If I try to update the table located on server 2 I get the 18456 error.
sa accounts on both servers are the same.
I created a domain account for the sql server agents (same on both servers).
I tried serveral configurations of RPC nothing works.

Any Idea

Best regards,

Ronald
