Hi,

Customer is thinking of not upgrading the existing sql2k server, because the application is running fine in sql2k.

Anybody got any idea whether microsoft has end of support for sql2000 ?
Because sql2005 and sql2008 are already in the market.

Customer will seriously consider upgrading sql2k to sql2005 or sql2008 if sql2000 is heading towards end of support or end of life.

Hope you can advise.

Thanks &
Regards

My understanding is you have to have a Microsoft Select agreement to have full coverage. They will then still support you for SQL2000 but if you find a bug that they don't have a fix for you will have to pay them a fee to fix it. Security patches are still covered too. I think THAT type of support is over in 2012. We still have some SQL 2000 here and are going to upgrade to SQL 2008 over the next 24 months.
