I have created a linked server using through Query Analyzer in order to get user information and import it into a SQL db.

sp_addlinkedserver 'ADSI', 'Active Directory Service Interfaces',
'ADSDSOObject', 'adsdatasource'
go

When I right click on the tables under the linked server in Enterprise Manager, I get the following error message.

Error 7301: Could not obtain a required interface from OLE DB provider 'ADSDSOObject'.

1) My SQL server is in an NT domain
2) I believe the Active Directory domain has a trust relationship with this NT domain
3) I've added the Active Directory domain's administrator ID to the SQL server and given it what I would think would be sufficient permissions

I've tried running sp_addlinkedsrvlogin with various configurations, and have tried modifying the security information through Enterprise Manager with no luck. Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks -- Julie

When I use the following query, I get the error below.

SELECT [Name], SN [Last Name], ST State,Title, street,l city, telephonenumber, adspath,
department,location,displayname,division,mail,manager
FROM OPENQUERY( ADSI,
'SELECT Name, SN, ST,title,SN,street, l,telephonenumber,adspath,
department,location,displayname,division,mail,manager
FROM ''LDAP://ADSI/cn=users,OU=Category,OU=Users,DC=dnsstuff,DC=stuff2,DC=net''
WHERE objectCategory = ''Person'' AND
objectClass = ''user''')

Server: Msg 7321, Level 16, State 2, Line 1
An error occurred while preparing a query for execution against OLE DB provider 'ADSDSOObject'.

Also, the only user information that I want to extract at this time is the user's name and their user ID, which we have additionally stored in the description field.

Do I need to put the name space anywhere in the query?
