Hello,

Current Environment:
SQL 7.0 sp1

SQL 2k sp3a

We need to migrate the 7.0 databases to an existing instance of SQL 2k. The problem is the difference in collation. Does anyone have any documentation on migrating from 7.0 to 2k with differenct collation? Is there a way to migrate the 7.0 to 2k and taking the 2k collation?

Any help is appreciated.

Alfredo,

Collation has nothing to do with migration.

You would have the same problem moving a SQL Server 2000 db to a different collation.

Basically you have to rebuild your tables and indexes in the new collation.

Until then, don't forget: COLLATE DATABASE_DEFAULT is a "mixed-collation" dba's BEST friend.
