New to all of this but am slowly learning... okay here it goes.
I am attempting a new install of SQL Server 2005 on a Vista Business 64 bit system. The following error is what I keep getting.
"The SQL Server service failed to start. For more information, see the SQL Server Books Online topics..."
I have did the exact same install on a Vista Ultimate 64 bit system and not a hitch. After getting the SQL error I then get an error from Vista stating that a critical error has occured and the computer will be shutting down in one minute. That's paraphrasing but very close. I am able to use the restore feature to get back to a stable booting point.
Does anyone have any ideas for me? If I didn't have to use 2005 I wouldn't but I do.
