when ever trying to register a 'reporting service' into your management studio,
or otherwise connect, or view a report... you might get an error with this:

error: Failed to access IIS metabase

this some times occurs in many cases when IIS is installed after .NET 2.0.

if this is the case then here are a few solutions that might work for you.

solution 1)
try re-installing IIS after installing .NET Framework 2.0.

If this applies to you, you can fix the problem via Control Panel >
Add/Remove Programs > Add/Remove .NET Framework 2.0 > Repair .Net Framework 2.0
(no need to reboot in my case).

solution 2)
Go to IIS Admin
Rigth Click on Default Web Site
Go to Operator Tab
Add the ASPNET user on the list

this has worked for some people with windows 2000 server.

solution 3)
To fix it, download Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 once again and perform a "repair installation".
The "repair installation" feature is available in the .NET 2.0 Redistributable Version

hope this is useful.

cheers
