have a table which has a primary key, and three ntext field storing text data of lenght ranging from 1000 - 6000 characters. When i copy and paste text in two of the ntext fields, it works well, as soon as i enter or copy/paste text from notepad to the third field of type ntext, it display message like "can't edit this cell".

the text data contain simple a-z, 0-9, and some special characters like @, (, ), ., /, \, #, {, }.

Can someone guide me what i have to do to store a text of around 5000 characters or more in different fields.

Is there any limitation of using ntext or text fields in a table (1, 2, 3 or ?).

What special setting it need? can someone guide me?

I agree with Russellb...as per BOL, "ntext, text, and image data types will be removed in a future version of Microsoft SQL Server. Avoid using these data types in new development work, and plan to modify applications that currently use them. Use nvarchar(max), varchar(max), and varbinary(max) instead."
