I am trying to set up my mail reporting from Maintenance plans. My previous setup on a Nt4 Cluster with Exch 5.5 and Sql2k used the Mail option in Control panel to set up the profile which worked great.

BOL says do the same in W2k - but in Win Srv 2003 this option doesn't appear to exist.

How do i set up a profile so Sql2k can talk to my Exch 2003

Running a 2 node cluster, Windows server 2003, Exchange 2003, Sql 2000 all latest sp's.

Thanks

Came to that conclusion in the end but then found Profman2.exe article 228736 on the MS site - great little tool that lets you install just a profile & a user with out having to install outlook. Worked like a dream. Now all i have to do is make ASR work!

do yourself a favor avoid using SQL Mail, this is just a suggestion
SQL Mail has lots of bug and issues with OL 2K, 2K3 exchange etc.
Use somkethign like this
--Report Failure
EXECUTE master..sp_send_cdosysmail
@From = 'DBServer@mycompany.com'
, @To = 'DBA@mycompany.com'
, @Subject = 'Job Failed!'
, @Body = 'Job Failed. Cover Page is missing on TPS reports'

you can do the same for success

all you have to do is to create your sp_send_cdosysmail procedure

Hope it helps
