We are moving to SQL 05 on X64 soon I am looking for any configuration recommendations that are different from SQL 05 on 32 bit. I know not to enable AWE or modify the boot.ini with /PAE or /3GB.

For example, I read to change the OS to favor memory for programs and not System Cache in System Properties (I haven't tried this yet).

Does anyone have any recommended changes for memory, cpu or anything from its default settings?

Any help or links are appreciated!

Thanks.

SQL Server 64 bit usually likes a bit more memory for the o/s. We always set them up with at least 2GB RAM; this is not too much of a reach since a lot of the boxes that I work on have 32, 64, 96 GB RAM. You are correct as far as AWE goes - you don't need to change that or add anything to the boot.ini file. It's overall a fairly clean cutover, with the exception of DTS, log shipping, maintenance plans, etc.
