Hi all,
I am working for a client that uses transactional replication to replicate specific tables (all rows / all changes) to another database. They initially set it up to replicate 81 tables. Some months later they decided another table needed to be replicated and instead of changing the original publication they created an entirely new publication. They are now asking me to add 5 more tables to replication.

Overall, I would like consolidate this into one replication job instead of creating a new one. They are afraid the snapshot will take too long and cause problems with blocking on the subscription database.

There are currently 82 tables totaling approximately 5GB. The servers are on a capable LAN connection, however they are pretty taxed for resources as-is and I do not want to disrupt production any more than necessary.

If I decide to consolidate all this work into 1 publication, what is going to happen?

Thanks in advance,
Josh
