I have SQL Report Server/Manager with IIS in one Server and the Report Server DB on SQL SERVER 2000 on another Server.

When trying to install SP1 on SQL Report Server/Manager on the first machine, I would receive an error:

Quote

"SQL Setup failed to connect to the database service for server configuration. Refer to the Server error logs and setup logs for more detailed error information."

any ideas?

btw, I have the eval version Version 8.00.743.00 while the documentation says the final version is 8.00.0743.00 (extra zero ".743" vs ".0743"). Does this matter? I'm not sure, but I don't think we have a web farm.

The SP1 instasll went fine for me on a similar architecture.
I would check the log files as suggested to see if that provides any valuable information.

Also make sure that you can connect to the sql sever database from the location you are installing from, and using an admin login, as SP1 makes changes to the database
