Hi there,

I have got a new SQL Server 2005 x64 Ent Edition installed on a VMWare machine Win 2003 R2 64bit with 2 CPUs and 10GB RAM. After I installed SQL Server 2005 i wanted to capture the perfmon counters for my baseline data but the Page Life Expectancy runs very low. Most of the times below 300. I have changed the SQL Server Max Server Memory to 9GB, Pagefile is 1.5 time 10GB i.e. 15GB. SQL Service Account has been added to Lock Pages in Memory, but the Page Life Expectancy runs low. As I mentioned that this is a fresh SQL installation therefore there are no user database on the server.

Can I get some help on how to resolve this issue. Why is the PLE counter constantly running so low?

Thanks in advance.

There are no user database on the server yet. I used perfmon counter to capture the values for PLE.
