On some of our sql servers they have LOCAL and i want to change them to the computer name so that i can run commands accross our network and i found that if the Name of the server LOCAL is set it does not work.

How to change LOCAL to computer name ----i usually do delete LOCAL and add new registration and thats works ....but if i have existing databases already stored there if i do delete LOCAL will it do new registration and not put all my databases back..

Thanks

(local) is just an alias to the server you are logged into. Deleting the reference from EM or QA does nothing to affect the database already on the server. You aren't actually deleting the server, rather are deleting a saved connection to the server.
