Is there anyway to reduce the size of TempDB other than stopping and
starting SQL server 2005 ?

Do you know why is it big?

If you don't know why is it big, best not to do anything since the likelyhood is high it will grow back again after restart.

Sqlserver 2005 DB size 900mb but temp db size 5 GB and Growing

Is there anyway to reduce the size of TempDB other than stopping and

You need to restart the SQL Service
I think this is the only way to reduce it
