An instance of Reporting Services has been installed but has been pointed at the wrong SQL Server instance. We believe we can use the rsconfig command to repoint the database. However the correct location of the database is on a SQL Server named instance. The documentation for rsconfig states that the servername parameter cannot be a named instance.

Does anyone know how we can repoint RS to a database on a SQL Server named instance post installation?

Thanks in advance,
Colin

This may be a workaround...

Logon to the server where you have RS installed.

A. Click on Start /run
B. Type cliconfg.exe
C. go to alias tab and create an alias for you SQLSERVER with instance name to a name that doesnot have alias.

D. now use the RSConfig utility to point to this alias name you just created.
