Hi, everyone,

Do you have any good idea on testing availability of the sql database? When the database is down, I can get mail or page.

For example, I have two user databases pubs and northwind. Should I test them and master, tempdb, model databases all or only user databases.

Thanks

You can pass a normal select statement to use the database using ISQLw utility and run as a task scheduler, if job success write to a file or fails then use Mail operator to mail concerned account.

So I need to run select statement for all databases which including tempdb, master, msdb, model?
By the way, could you explain BLAT?

Informative note by Clifford, the code helped me a lot for a problem we'd recently.

Thanks for your tip Cliff.

You may want to do "IF EXISTS(SELECT TOP 1 * FROM sysobjects)" instead.
