I'm checking out two tools for SQL, both by Idera:

1) SQL Doctor

2) SQL Diagnostic Manager

The manager (#2) being much more robust and intense with features...does anyone have any experience with these tools? The manager is expensive ($2K+ per instance).

Any thoughts?

SQL Diagnostic Mgr is very good tool for performance monitoring and for jobs monitoring. One of the features which I love was we can configure for the on-call DBA to receive alerts.

Thanks - after reviewing both products, we can't afford SQL DM - it's $2K+ per SQL Instance....way too pricey for us...

We opted for SQL Doctor since it can work with unlimited instances, and has most of the functionality as SQL DM, without the realtime monitoring and notification. It's kind of a scaled down version of SQL DM.

I'm not a fulltime DBA, so it seems like the learning curve with SQL Doctor is easier to get up to speed as well....

Idera tools are expensive than others you should switch some other tools like Red gate, Lepide , Quest etc
