Dear all,
I have managed to create a Batch file which successfully installs SQL Server 2008R2 Client tools in Silent mode without issues. However the batch file fails to install SP1 in Quiet mode, ie it displays progress and needs end user to click next. Please find below the extract of the Batch file, please note I have changed Copy section to hide server names;

Echo Copying SQL Server 2008R2 installation files.
cd c:\

Echo Create tempory folder for installation
MD c:\SQLInstallation
cd c:\SQLInstallation

Echo Copying SQL Server 2008R2 Installation files.
Xcopy "\\NetworkServer\Developer (MSDN)\*" /e

Echo Copying SQL Server 2008R2 Service Pack installation files.
XCopy "\\NetworkServer\Service Packs\*" /e

Echo Installing SQL 2008R2 Client Tools.
"C:\SQLInstallation\Extracted Files\"setup.exe /ACTION=INSTALL /Q /FEATURES=BOL,BC,Conn,SSMS /IACCEPTSQLSERVERLICENSETERMS=True

Echo Installing SQL Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 1.
"C:\SQLInstallation\SP1\"SQLServer2008R2SP1-KB2528583-x86-ENU.exe /Action=Patch /Quiet /allinstances /IAcceptSQLServerLicenseTerms

Echo Deleting installation files.
CD c:\
RD SQLInstallation /s /q
Echo Client SQL Server 2008R2 and Service Pack completed.
Pause

Can anybody spot anything wrong with the Install SQL Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 1 section which means it needs to display progress etc to end user?

Any ideas much appreciated.

Kind Regards
Amber

I have managed to resolve the issue, but using Slipstream so SP1 is merged into the SQL Server 2008R2 setup process. After extracting the SP1 using the article: http://www.sqlservercentral.com/art...eam/71654/ using Slipstream I updated my batchfile, please note that Server names have been renamed for Security reasons;

Echo Copying SQL Server 2008R2 installation files.
cd c:\

Echo Create tempory folder for installation
MD c:\SQLInstallation
cd c:\SQLInstallation

Echo Copying SQL Server 2008R2 Installation files.
Xcopy "\\ANetworkServer\software\Server installers\Microsoft\SQL\SQL Server 2008 R2\Developer (MSDN)\*" /e

Echo Copying SQL Server 2008R2 Service Pack installation files.
XCopy "\\ANetworkServer\software\Server installers\Microsoft\SQL\SQL Server 2008 R2\Service Packs\*" /e

Echo Installing SQL 2008R2 Client Tools and SP1 Slipstream
"C:\SQLInstallation\Extracted Files\"setup.exe /PCUSource=c:\SQLInstallation\SP1\ExtractSP1X86 /ACTION=INSTALL /Q /FEATURES=BOL,BC,Conn,SSMS /IACCEPTSQLSERVERLICENSETERMS=True

Echo Deleting installation files.
CD c:\
RD SQLInstallation /s /Q
Echo Client SQL Server 2008R2 and Service Pack completed.
Pause
