Hi all,

I am migrating our SQL 2000 databases to SQL 2008 R2 using the COPY DATABASE wizard. These are all pretty simple databases used for web applications, and so far, I have had no problems.

But one question - it seems when the database is copied, the SQL user logins it copies with it "lose" their passwords. All the logins are disabled after the copy (on the destination server) and need to be re-enabled, and the password needs to be reset.

Is this normal? I'm assuming it is, and it's easy enought to fix, but wanted to ask.

Thanks for any clarification on this process.

Dave

Because you're copying users, not logins. Users need to be mapped to logins on target server.

You can copy logins along with pwd and sid with sp_help_revlogin.
