Aspose.Words for Reporting Services is a rendering extension for Microsoft SQL Server 2000 and 2005 Reporting Services that allows exporting reports in true DOC, RTF and WordprocessingML formats. All RDL report features including tables, matrices, charts, textboxes, lists and images are converted with the highest degree of precision to Microsoft Word documents.

Please tell me when you have a product that will actually save into Word as a "true" document, not one with each line in individual text boxes or tables but in paragraphs with returns. We are using reporting services.

Who ever accomplishes this first will be far ahead of the game in the market for tools for reporting services and I'll recommend purchasing it immediately. Also this will be a selling point for all your other products since you met our needs. Even our records retention department is requesting this capability.

Dear Hector,

I hope all is well.

The developer of Aspose.Words for Reporting Services has also qouted a message that meets your required concerns. Let me paste that message below.

"Hi,

I am Dmitry, the developer of Aspose.Words for Reporting Services. I totally understand your point. The ability of exporting reports to flow layout documents (I would prefer this term instead of “true” because documents with absolutely positioned layout are 100% “true” as well) is not merely important, it is just necessary and strongly demanded by many users.

I’d like to note that Aspose.Words for Reporting Services currently supports export of tables and matrices to Microsoft Word tables rather than sets of textboxes that at least simplifies editing these items. This is the minimum offered by our AWesomeExport technology whose ultimate goal is making you happy by implementing the neatest conversion to Word documents possible. In this context it means generating fully “editable” flow layout documents with minimal formatting impact. As you correctly noticed, this area is still to be researched and implemented, and it is not trivial indeed. We are working on it and I would suggest that you visit Aspose website in 2-3 months – I hope we will have some good news for you

If you need further discussion, please welcome to our support forum:

http://www.aspose.com/Community/For...Forum.aspx

Thank you so much for considering us."

This is my last conversation on your website:

DmitryV wrote the following post at 06-18-2007 1:46 PM:
I see. We are speaking of the same things. That is what we should come to ultimately and that is what we aspire to. I am working on it and I'll try my best to accomplish this task even sooner than planned initially. However, let me avoid publishing precise timeframes meanwhile - just believe I really want to provide you with this type of output ASAP.

Thanks.

Has this changed in the last 3 weeks?

Hello,

This is Dmitry, the developer of the product. No, nothing was changed; actually both replies mean the same: I do understand the importance of the feature and I'm trying my best to accomplish it ASAP. I really wanted to avoid publishing any timeframes because this is a fully research job and I wouldn't like to break promises if something goes wrong; however, I think 2-3 months will be enough... maybe more than enough So to be posted on any news on this subject I would recommend that you subscribe to our blogs:

and then you won't miss the so expected release (and I will try to not make you waiting too long).

Thanks.
