I am running a trace, and sending the output to file. however, while the trace is running nothing is written to the file. only after i stop the trace, the output is written to the file.
at the begining, it was writting to the trace file, while the trace was running, but after some time, it will not write to the file.

is there settings that i need to change?

Thanks.

Did you enable file rollover?

Are you sure you are getting events that meet your filter criteria? Look at the Event_Count column in the sys.traces dmv while it is running to ensure it is filtering properly. However one thing I want to point out is that the trace output to the file is buffered and does not always show the actual size until the trace is stopped.

SQL Profiler is a tool that captures SQL Server events from the server and saves those events in what's known as a trace file

check the article to trace a file through profiler

Else you have another option to try this tool to trace a file

Be careful to run profiler on prod server, it may slow down queries.
