I have a subscriber receiving transaction replication. Can I put the subscriber database in read-only mode? Can it still receive replicated transactions in read-only mode?

I am now getting an error "Could not run BEGIN TRANSACTION in database 'repl-test' because the database is read-only."

But then you cannot write to that database.....How does it get updated?

On a second thought, the same with log-shipping, the target db is READ ONLY and transaction being restored.

In the Replication Monitor on the Distributor:

Could not run BEGIN TRANSACTION in database 'repl-test' because the database is read-only.
(Source: RHW2K3DB06\SQL2000 (Data source); Error number: 3906)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As soon as I uncheck Read-Only....the replication runs successfully.
