Hello-
Is it possible to create a variable in a report (ie. vDate ) that would accept a date entered by user before report is run? If so, where is variable supposed to be declared, etc. and how is it referenced in report?

Never mind....figured it out. Createda a parameter called rDate with a prompt "Enter Report Date: ". In the report header section, referenced with -> parameters!rDate.value. Works like a champ.

Also note that SQL variables/parameters in your data set (be it text or stored procedure) will automatically create corresponding report parameters for you.

Example: data set ds_MyDataSet accesses a stored procedure named usp_MyProcedure, which has an input parameter of @Parameter. When I execute/ "test" the data set in SRS, a report parameter named "Parameter" is automatically added to the Parameters! collection.
