I know there is a code window to write your own functions. You can also use custom assemblies (.net classes) by referencing it etc

but ...

I'm porting a report from MS Access to SSRS manually, ie not using any tools.

If I have a MS Access query like

Select myFunc(field1), field2, field3 from table1

how do I do the same thing in SSRS?

I need to type 'pure' T-SQL as the reports data-source. The code window is only applicable to fields/textboxes inside the report.

Do I have to :-

Select field1, field2, field3 from table1

and then inside the report designer, set the appropriate text box to

Is that possible? Can I pass parameters to embedded code? Do I reference the field as above?

If I was using a SQL Server 2000 view, I'd specify a UDF but I don't know if SSRS can reference SQL Server UDF's.

SRS natively includes a tool to directly import Access reports.... why are you not using it?
