In a SQL Server 2005 database, I run a stored procedure.
That proc executes a stored procedure on a remote Linked Server running SQL Server 2000.

I get the following error

------------
Msg 7411, Level 16, State 1, Procedure XDGDBUpdate_LS_AR_APSourceDB, Line 43
Server 'FredLapTop2' is not configured for RPC.
------------

However, the remote server (FredLapTop2) does have the "allow other sql servers to connect remotely using RPC" box checked.

If I repeat that same test, but with a SQL Server 2000 database executing the same proc in the same remote SQL Server 2000 database, it works successfully.

Are there some issues with a SQL Server 2005 proc executing a proc in a Linked SQL Server 2000 database?

Thanks

Barry

Thanks rm - that was it.

I hadn't noticed those two RPC options in the Linked Server definition itself - I guess because they appear to default to "allowed" in SQL Server 2000 (so my proc worked without having to set them), but they are "not allowed" in SQL Server 2005.

Thanks

RPC Out should be enabled also.
