In sql 2000 Ihave a trigger where the user has access to a table for inserts/updates in db1. THis update need to update tables in db2. I know in sql 2005 there is some manipulation, but in sql 2000, even if the user does not access the other db directly, but the update trigger in db1 table fires and needs to update the tables in db2, I am guessing I have to give that user account rights in the 2nd db. I tested my theory and that seems to be the only solution, any other ideas?

You can queue the updates into a staging table on db1.

Have a scheduled (every 1 min?) job look at the queue and perform the appropriate updates on db2.
