Primary Purpose:
The Associate Director of Institutional Research, under the general direction of the Director, plays a leadership role in identifying, acquiring, managing, and integrating educational data for ISU for the purpose of centralized reporting, comprehensive analysis, performance measurement, business intelligence, planning and policy development. This position works with every module of the Banner ERP system and requires proficiency in writing advanced Structured Query Language (SQL) to extract, analyze and report data.
Key Responsibilities:
Performs all roles of the Director in his absence.

Writes and maintains Structured Query Language (SQL) programs to extract data from the university's legacy data system and the Banner ERP system. Build and maintain underlying databases to support Institutional Research studies and reports.

Uses the appropriate analytic tools and databases to produce comprehensive studies, develop models, and generate reports that aggregate, analyze and explain data on a wide area of topics that impact the university.

Anti***tes need for or responds to requests for miscellaneous ad hoc studies.

Assist the Director in the administrative duties of the office (e.g. budget preparation and oversight, preparing purchase orders, staff supervision, strategic planning, etc.).

Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum of three years experience working with relational databases, including analysis and query experience using SQL.

Demonstrated proficiency in writing advanced SQL code.

Experience with SQL Developer and/or SQL Server Management Studio or similar tool.

Excellent time management/prioritization skills.

Demonstrated knowledge of quantitative and qualitative research methods, research design and statistical analysis.

Possess excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

Demonstrated ability to accomplish data exploration and analysis through interviews, surveys, calculating statistics, web research, and database programming.

Ability to conduct data needs assessment and write specifications.

Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Office software, especially MS Excel.

Demonstrated ability to provide clear and concise written and oral analyses of results to various audiences within and external to the university.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working with the Banner ERP system.

Experience working with SPSS.

Web design experience.

SQL certification.
Salary/Pay Information
$70,000 to $85,000; competitive benefits package
