Is there a way that I can remove the security on one dimension or the entire dimension without rebuilding cubes? I keep getting an internal error when I try to edit cubes that have a particular dimension.

What I want to do is to remove the dimension from one of the cubes and see if that resolves the internal error that I am getting.

Can I delete an entry in the Repository to resolve this? It is a SQL db.

thank you.

Paul,

What do you mean by "removing security on one dimension"?

You can remove the dimension from the cube and reprocess the cube. The dimension will still be around.

Thank you for your assistance.

I had to call in Microsoft on this one.

What I had was orphaned roles. Cubes that had roles defined that were not at the database role level. What I had to do was to remove the orphaned roles manually.

Microsoft knows that it can happen, but made the decision to resolve it in 2005. Microsoft also stated that the fix, if not done correctly, could be disastrous.
