We have developed our VB.net application on computers which have SQL Server 2000 SP3 installed on them. Now when this application is installed on our customer sites through an msi the first time they enter the program it takes up to 2 minutes to load whereas here on our computer it takes only 5 seconds. We have installed SQL Server 2000 SP3 on a clients machine and the program loaded instantly. To test a theory we uninstalled SQL Server off this machine but when prompted to uninstall the shared files we chose not to, however this took the load time of the application back to 2 minutes. Also the application only loads in 5 seconds with SP3 installed not just SQL Server 2000 only. Has anybody come across this problem or have any suggestions for which file(s) installed or changed by SP3 could be causing this problem.
The Program loads using a splash screen and gathers information from the database at this point. It also is developed as an MDI container so all programs that are called from the main menu are different Class library dll's.
It is only the first time that one of the dll's is called that the slowness occurs but is a problem each time the program is loaded.
Thank you in advance.
