One of the standard features that developers expect from Microsoft products is Intellisense - automatically displaying lists of possible choices for variable names etc.

Intellisense was never part Query Analyzer and SQL editing Visual Studio.NET 2003, but there was an expectation that it would be included in SQL Server 2005. Much to everyone's disappointment this feature got pulled from the final release.

There is now a piece of software that adds Intellisense to Query Analyzer, Visual Studio.NET 2003/2005 and SQL Server 2005 Management Studio. It will even do things like suggest join conditions based on primary/foreign key relationships in the FROM condition you are editing.

Take a look at the demo at http://www.promptsql.com/

There appears to be another program with SQL Intellisense in Visual Studio as well. Looks to include features such as templates, pretty formatting, the gamut I guess.
