Hello,

I've started a new job and I am looking for a tool that will go out and search existing databases and create a logical map and show me the relationships between the various tables.

It's always challenging coming into a new job and trying to grasp relational relationships that someone else has created.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Don't know ERwin, but Visio gets you where you want, I think...

If you use diagram in EM, be sure to not change the tables (add constraints etc.)....(another reason I'd use a separate tool like Visio)

I use Case Studio...works great and compatible with other database types

can generate shemas, html reports of the DB structure and the inverse...define a schema and generate a comprehensive SQL Server Script to create the DB.

I didn't liked that much ERWin...kind of too heavy to laod and everything...
Case Studio is really light and intuitive!

You can use the diagramming tool. Built in. Missing relationships? You fill in the holes.

Great way to learn the db of the new job.
